The legislative framework administered by NSW Fair Trading sets the scene and the rules for fairness in the countless daily transactions between consumers and traders.

A system of licensing and the investigation of complaints help ensure unqualified or inappropriate people do not conduct their business in NSW. Often behind the scenes, non-compliance with our legislative framework is investigated and perpetrators can be fined, have their licence taken away or even imprisoned.
